The Handloom Weaving Lab is equipped with 16 handlooms, including dobby, along with preparatory process facilities such as peg warping, sectional warping and winding.
The handloom lab aims to skill the students on handloom weaving intricacies, understanding and handling of various handlooms meant for different regional specific fabrics of our country, doing the preparatory processes for various fabrics, and weaving of fabrics.
Through skill based practical exercises, students learn to develop designs, drafts, peg plans, tie-up plans and develop fabric samples .
They also learn and become skilled on lattice preparation for handloom dobby designs.
Ultimately, the lab cultivates a deep understanding of traditional handloom weavings practiced in our country and nurtures creativity as well as technical proficiency to create professionals for handloom weaving.
